“Something Philip Selway and I kept coming back to how much time we have left… He was using this 30 years as a bench mark but he said that could be substantially less? That stood out to me and I think it helped me realise that I needed to stop procrastinating and I managed to get the painting done really quickly. I don’t think that would have happened without Philip’s words. So the piece is a statement of time. The time I took to talk to Philip about things, the time it took to create the painting, and the time that the painting will hopefully live on for way past my earthly soul” - Remi Rough
Remi Rough is a British abstract and graffiti artist, painter and muralist. He is best known for work that bridges graffiti and street art with fine art abstraction. In addition, he is one half of rap duo The Dead Can Rap with American Poet and alternative hip-hop artist, Mike Ladd. His work has been exhibited in Hong Kong, London (United Kingdom), Los Angeles (United States), Paris (France), Perth (Australia), and Tokyo (Japan). In 2012 he painted the Megaro Hotel which was the largest mural in London at the time.
